Mission Statement

We believe that a Band Program must provide a holistic approach to music education in which all students develop and practice music as a life skill.  The goal of the École Dugald School Band Program is to provide a positive atmosphere where students develop the desire and skills to become interested in and understand music, to have the foundational skills to make music, and to have them partake in creative activities that develop essential human skills.

Through the study of music in a group setting, students learn such skills as team-work, cooperation, commitment, and discipline.  These skills may be developed in other school subjects but only instrumental music study can utilize such skills as a whole brain activity.
